About Osborne Photography
About Osborne Photography
Hello, I’m Nick Osborne - the owner and photographer at Osborne Photography. Towards the end of a rewarding career in advertising and marketing in the 90s and 00s, I followed my passion by studying photography part-time at a local college. After finishing studies, I followed the adage ‘do what you love and love what you do’ and started Osborne Photography in 2009.
As I’ve built up a client base, I’ve applied many of the principles learnt from the communications and hospitality industries. I’m always professional and friendly and look the part in whatever environment I find myself in; I’m committed to learning my craft and continuing to develop and treat every client as unique.
I’ll bring lots of enthusiasm, energy and ideas to any brief you present me with. Whether you’re at the ideas stage or ready to progress, call me on 07739 035923 for a no-obligation chat about your photography and video requirements.
Frequently asked questions
How much does your photography cost and what does it include?
My charges are all-inclusive and cover photography or video shoot time, editing and enhancement, image use license and supply via a password-protected online gallery. Travel and overnight accommodation if necessary are also charged for and will be highlighted at the quote stage. These factors plus others such as turnaround time mean that I don’t publish a ratecard and prefer to quote for each commission individually. On receipt of a brief, I can come back with a quote certainly within 24 hours but often much, much quicker. I like to make the process as simple as possible so am happy to discuss your brief over the phone or via video call or by email - so don’t hesitate to get in touch for a no-obligation chat.
Do you edit the images?
Sure do. I edit each and every image individually. The most basic form of editing involves correcting for exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows, clarity and saturation, then cropping and straightening, whilst also adding keywords, titles and captions to the metadata.
Images sometimes demand advanced levels of editing that can include object removal, repairing buildings or surfaces, skin softening and more. I charge by the project as explained above and this includes basic editing which covers most eventualities. The basic editing process usually takes as long as the photoshoot itself, so four hours for a half-day shoot and so on. When needed, advanced editing is charged as an additional cost based on the extent of the work involved and the option is highlighted when the initial set of images are sent over.
Do I get all of the pictures from the photoshoot?
Most photography assignments are based on a specific brief and with an objective in mind, like accompanying a news story, social media post or web page. Unless a specified amount of images are part of the client brief, I provide my clients with all of the images taken with the exception of duplicates and outtakes (blurry images or unflattering poses for example), which are few and far between I must add..! This gives you, the client, the best possible choice to be able to select from.
Which photography discipline do you prefer?
I genuinely enjoy all of the various photography disciples I work on without exception. I have been tempted to specialise in one or more areas in the past but would miss the amazing variety the job offers. I may be viewing through rose-tinted glasses now but I do recall a few years ago when I was in scrubs at a hospital one day, donning a hard hat on an archaeological dig the next and finishing off the week sampling and photographing some amazing food. Working on different disciplines keeps me fresh and enthusiastic for each new project and I’m constantly updating my equipment, skills and knowledge to provide the best service possible.
